Despite persistent macroeconomic uncertainties, the worst seems to be over for the semiconductor industry. There are some signs that the market has reached its low point and is starting to stabilize – or even rebound – after several months of widespread slowdown, made worse by a build-up of inventories.
“We’re probably past the trough, although every sector is different,” agrees Doug O’Laughlin, analyst at Fabricated Knowledge. This future rebound was expected in this industry known to be “cyclical”, that is to say subject to periods of expansion then recession.
