AFMF (AMD Fluid Motion Frames) technology is an option that allows you to generate additional images to be inserted between the original images. In short, your frames per second (FPS) increase, and you benefit from a smoother experience.

This IPS boost technology is available for DirectX 11 and 12 via FSR 3.0 and competes with NVIDIA’s DLSS. It was originally only available on Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards and therefore to a limited number of users. AMD listened to players’ comments and made the decision to make AFMF available to the RX 6000 generation of GPUs.

The new driver responsible for this update is the aptly named “Adrenalin Edition Technical Preview Driver for AMD Fluid Motion Frames”. A somewhat long name but which allows 20 games to take full advantage of AFMF but also to democratize this technology a little more.

Boosted IPS for 20 games in total

This is excellent news for owners of AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, since they will now be able to take advantage of AFMF and thus streamline their gaming experience. This addition would support AMD’s statements, according to which the RDNA 2 cards are better than the competition.

Initially available on a limited number of games (12 exactly), AMD seems to want to extend compatibility with its frame generation option, since today there are 20 games that benefit from it. You can find the list of these games just below:

A Plague Tale: Requiem
Borderlands 3
Control
Dead Space
Deep Rock Galactic
Dying Light 2
Far Cry 6
Ghostwire: Tokyo
Hitman 3
Hogwarts Legacy
Horizon Zero Dawn
Metro Exodus EE
Red Dead Redemption 2
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil 4
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Starfield
The Last of Us Part 1
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

This list should continue to grow over time and logically overshadow NVIDIA’s DLSS technology. In a way, the addition of Fluid Motion Frames is both good news for Radeon graphics card owners, but also for GeForce GPU users, since NVIDIA will certainly not fail to react to the competition.
