The funeral of the martyr Sergeant George Philip Abu Shaaya in the town of Ablah

The Lebanese Army Command and the people of the town of Ablah – Zahle district, held the funeral of the martyr Sergeant George Philip Abu Chaaya, who was martyred on 2/16/2023 in the town of Hortala – the Bekaa, in the presence of a crowd of citizens and soldiers.

The funeral began with an honoring ceremony in front of Zahle Governmental Hospital, where a group of military police and army music saluted him and the necessary ceremonies, and he was decorated with medals of war, the wounded, and military appreciation of the bronze degree. Then the body was transported to his hometown of Ablah, where a memorial ceremony was held in the presence of Colonel Muhammad al-Halabi, representing the Minister of National Defense in the caretaker government, Maurice Selim, and the army commander, General Joseph Aoun.

Al-Halabi pointed out, in a speech on the occasion, that “the army has taken upon itself to pursue criminals wherever they are, led by drug dealers, and to thwart their malicious plans and dismantle their gangs, within the framework of its assumption of responsibility for security and stability in Lebanon,” stressing that “the military institution will continue to assume its responsibilities.” No matter how great you are, and we have in the blood of our righteous martyrs like the hero George, a good incentive to continue the march, his blood will not be in vain, and his bright legacy will illuminate our path and will remain present in our conscience.
