The Future of Protest: Understanding the Legal Boundaries to Maintain Peaceful Demonstrations

2023-10-04 14:54:00
What does the future law say about protesting without breaking?

The demonstrators will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the office of the Minister of Justice, Boulevard du Jardin Botanique. They will then go to the various headquarters of the left-wing parties in the federal government: PS, Vooruit, Écolo and Groen. The demonstration will be broken up at Place Rouppe.

Fortes perturbations

Some staff from regional public transport companies will participate in this action. The Stib, Tec and De Lijn networks will therefore be disrupted.

In Brussels, Stib expects “major disruptions on its network” and recommends that its travelers “plan alternative solutions to public transport to travel in Brussels that day”. In order to inform its users of the status of the situation, Stib will open its Contact Center (070/23.20.00) from 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning. THE site and the Stib application will continuously inform travelers.

In Wallonia, disruptions are also to be feared on the network, Tec announces. The details of the deleted lines, region by region, appear on the Tec website.

In Flanders, De Lijn announces that almost half of the trams and buses will not run on Thursday. On the Coast in particular, less than half of the trams will run.

HAS Brussels Airport, finally, we expect a very limited risk of disruptions, although delays cannot be ruled out.

However, SNCB does not anticipate any disruption.
