The Secretary of Tourism of Bariloche and president of Emprotur, Gastón Burlón, traveled abroad again yesterday to carry out promotional activities, while the crossing of accusations and the requests for reports by the bills which he made last October and November during another foray into Europe.

The alleged irregularity took several months to become public and only came to light at the end of April after the resignation of the manager of the tourism promotion entity, Santiago Díaz Vélez, who left office due to “irreconcilable differences with the board of directors.”
On Burlón also weighs a investigation initiated by the Court of Comptroller and a request for resignation, promoted by the Municipal Council, which evaluated the issue last week in the Legislative Commission.
During that meeting one of the most repeated words was “canapé” and Councilor Pablo Chamatrópulos (Podemos) used it over and over again to challenge the trips made by officials and representatives of Emprotur to different tourism fairs.
“Today in a digital world it does not make sense to send a delegation of officials and relatives to walk around the world to eat canapés. The councilor is the author of a project to dissolve Emprotur, which manages a budget of almost 1,000 million pesos per year and is nourished with funds from a mandatory fee.

Burlón is the one who accumulates the most miles in representation trips, but the executive directors of the entity and other members of the board, from the private sector, also usually participate in similar missions.

Unlike what happens with other official trips authorized by municipal resolution, in this case the cost in tickets and per diems is not consigned, since the money does not come out of general income. The only reference is that they are “covered by Emprotur”.
The resolution does comply with the formality of applying the “automatic subrogation system” and establishes that while Burlón is not in Bariloche, his responsibilities were left to the deputy chief of staff Gabriela Rosemberg.
