Thodupuzha: A young man attempted suicide by jumping into the river after his girlfriend withdrew from the relationship after realizing that he was married. Jojo George (28), a native of Kolani, jumped into the river near Thodupuzha police station. The police and fire brigade tried to save him for two hours.
Jojo was in love with a girl from Idukki. The young woman left home and was staying with Jojo in Kolani since November 11. However, when she came to know that the young man was already married, the young woman withdrew from the relationship and reached Thodupuzha police station and went with her parents. This is why Jojo tried to commit suicide by jumping into the river.
The young man jumped from the bridge into the river on Thursday afternoon. Passers-by who saw this immediately informed the police. The police arrived but could not get into the river due to the strong current. With this, the fire brigade was called. At this time, Jojo got scared and grabbed the concrete pillar of the bridge. The fire brigade rescued him with a net and shifted him to the hospital. The police informed that a case has been registered against Jojo for attempted suicide.
