The Secretary of Commerce, Matías Tombolini, announced an agreement with automotive companies.

This increase was covered by the new price framework that the Government enabled through the Federal Administration of Public Revenues, which updated the wholesale price at 7.3 million pesos from which vehicles are subject to internal taxes.

That price, once the different commercial margins have been applied, translates into a price to the public of between 10.3 and 10.5 million pesos.

As of Monday, that cap was at $8.4 million. Above those 10.5 million pesos, cars and SUVs with zero kilometers (not the pick ups, which are exempt) pay a an extra rate of 20 percent that increases the final price of the unit by a total of 25%.

Until this Tuesday, many medium and medium-small models, including the best-selling nationally manufactured ones, were “capped” below $8.4 million so as not to be left out of the market.
