The Government agreed a maximum price of $680 for a kilo of French bread until September 30 and $715 in October. According to the Secretary of Commerce, the new agreement, within the framework of the Fair Prices program, will reach the entire country.
In a statement, the Secretariat headed by Matías Tombolini pointed out that the price was agreed upon together with representatives of the Argentine Federation of the Bread and Related Industry (Faipa) and the Chamber of Industrial Bakers of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CIPC).
“We need to give clear signals to society and that is why it is essential to strengthen the tools we have and comply with the agreements,” they stated. “This commitment is important because it is the best way to bring the wheat trust tool into existence,” said Tombolini.
The signatory entities are made up of more than 5,000 bakeries from all over the country, “which must mark their premises with Fair Prices signage to identify that they participate in the program,” said Commerce. They also added that “the measure has the support of the mills that are part of the Wheat Trust (FETA), which supply the bakeries.”
In the same document, the Government assured that “the price of a ton of subsidized wheat flour continues to be 40% below the market price of said product.”
For his part, the president of CIPC, José Álvarez, remarked that they are “encouraging all industrial bakers to buy this subsidized flour.”
