The Grane murder: The police expand the charges – adressa.no

– The investigation into the case is fully underway. Through the investigation, the police have obtained information which means that the charges are now being extended to both murder and attempted murder. It is the woman who was injured, who now receives the status of offended, says police prosecutor Jonas Nerdal in the Nordland police district in a press release.

It was 33-year-old Henrik L. Laukholm Solli who was found dead in a home in Grane municipality in Helgeland on Tuesday last week. On Monday, the police released the name in consultation with the next of kin.

The man accused of murder was arrested at the scene. On Thursday, he was remanded in custody for four weeks in line with what the police requested.

Pleads not guilty

The man, who pleads not guilty, has explained to the police what happened.

– My client has been in an initial interview where he has explained his experience of what happened on Tuesday evening. He acknowledges the actual circumstances, but does not acknowledge criminal guilt. That does not change because the police have expanded the charge, says his defender Jonas Berge.

It was the man accused of murder who himself notified the police about the incident. He has explained that he felt threatened by the victim, and that he feared for his own life prior to the incident.

The man who was found dead had injuries that could be compatible with the use of a chainsaw, the police said. They have also seized a chainsaw.

– What we can say is that the deceased has injuries that could be compatible with the use of a chainsaw and that a chainsaw was seized at the scene. However, we are awaiting the autopsy report before we can say anything further about the cause of death, the police said last week.

Witnesses and seizures

There should be no family relationship between those involved in the case, the police said.

Forensic psychiatric experts have been appointed to assess the accused’s sanity.

– Large resources are still set aside to work on this serious criminal case. In the future, the police will prioritize continuing with the questioning of witnesses and the review of seizures, police attorney Nerdal further informs.
