Ahead of the G7 Hiroshima Summit, which is scheduled to start on May 19, each country is actively working on Taiwan.

Most recently, former Prime Minister Liz Truss, a member of the UK’s ruling Conservative Party, announced a visit to Taiwan just before the G7. It will be the first time in 27 years for a former British prime minister to visit Taiwan, and it will be an important message showing the British government’s support for Taiwan.

Western dignitaries visit Taiwan one after another

In March, German Education and Research Minister Bettina Starkwatzinger became the first German minister to visit Taiwan in 26 years. In 2022, it is still fresh in our memory that former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi visited and caused a great deal of controversy.

In addition, in recent years, VIPs from Western countries such as the United States and France have visited Taiwan one after another, which has become a hot topic. Of course, it has a strong implication to check the rise of hegemonic China.
