A Russian craftsman restored a Moskvich-2140 with a Toyota interior
The old Moskvich, in the skillful hands of a garage foreman, was transformed into a futuristic car, as if straight from the screens of science fiction films. This unusual project deserves close attention.
The history of the appearance of a fancy car is as follows. The author of the project got the AZLK-2140 model from a friend, whose grandfather once bought it almost new. Although the car was not in perfect condition, it looked quite decent for its age. Initially, Moskvich was purchased as a donor for creative experiments.
After the purchase, the rarity took a place in the free car service bay, where work began on its modernization. Not only the appearance, but also the interior and technical content of the car were radically changed.
Initially, the idea was to create a futuristic car, reminiscent of cars from science fiction films. To do this, the rear doors of the Moskvich were amputated, and the front doors, on the contrary, were enlarged and the B-pillar was moved back. However, this version did not look very harmonious. I had to cut the roof, making it flatter, and order new glazing to fit the changed dimensions.
In addition, the model received a new body kit and fiberglass bumpers that look integral with the body. The headlights at the front were kept old, but a massive chrome radiator grille appeared. The taillights were replaced with LED ones. Door handles have disappeared; doors can now be opened from the inside or using a remote control.
Next, the car was “planted” lower, the springs were shortened, and 19-inch alloy wheels were installed. A 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine from Moskvich-2141 was installed under the hood. A custom two-way exhaust system was welded. The interior now features Toyota seats and a powerful audio system.
Thus, the ordinary Moskvich turned into a futuristic car worthy of a science fiction film. This extraordinary project once again proves the talent of domestic craftsmen. (photo: www.drive2.ru)
