Speaking to “P”, the president of “Smile of the Child” made harsh observations about the situation in schools, referring to the deep “marks” left on the body of society and children, among others, the period of coronavirus and quarantine.
THE Costas Yiannopoulos was found yesterday at Options Cinemas of Patras for the first presentation of the short film in local schools “Nepheli’s Thoughts”which created the “Child’s smile”, in the context of raising awareness and mobilizing students, parents and teachers about school bullying. This was followed by a prevention and awareness intervention for the students who watched the film, by a psychologist from the Organization.
Mr. Yiannopoulos emphasized to “P”:
“We’ve been saying since then, that there are incendiary bombs, which once will burst and now burst. The avalanche has started and the results are very bad. And we have to somehow heal those wounds.
And all the time we also have bigger problems: Knives in schools, daggers from the 4th and 5th grade! Juvenile officers say that “the kids are very angry! They are not taken care of, just processed. Childhood is neglected and the welfare state is under-functioning. Children live in a digital world that is not accessible to adults. In the electronic alana they are children, there everything is massive and uncontrollable. The average family works around the clock to make ends meet, we need to focus on family and mental health. Teachers play the main role. And we must say that there are some enlightened people who want to do their work, but the parents don’t let them. All players of this game need to sit down and figure it out. We propose tools to the ministry and the institutions, which are certified by the EU and which are intended to protect the school, to enable teachers to have possibilities”.
From his side, the deputy regional governor, Charalambos Bonanos, noted in “P”:
«It is not the first time that the Region of Western Greece cooperates with “Smile of the Child”, nor will it be the last. From the official data, it appears that one in three students have been bullied at school. At least 3,500 last September sought the help of the authorities for delinquency issues. Ah, it is a matter that shows a society that does not step well on its feet. Because this creeping fascist mentality: Diversity is ridiculed by the mass. And this later creates deviant personalities, which again turn against society. So we have to join forces, something that we in the Region are trying to do in every way and with great persistence”.
Panagiotis Konstantinopoulos, on behalf of “Coffee Island”, who is helping in the realization and screenings of the film, noted that “in our company we try to have as positive a footprint as possible, in society. It is obvious that we are very interested in what is happening around us and especially in children. So from the first moment we embraced and will continue to support the project of “Smile of the Child”. Of course, it is not the only thing we do for society. We have a very large program of giving back and giving back to society, as much as we can. And it’s not just the financial part of giving back, it’s that we get a lot back from the energy we receive. It has become part of Coffee Island’s DNA to offer things for society. And that makes us very proud!”.
