The Healing Touch of Jesus: Gratitude and the Kingdom of God

Dear friends:

Today some things that appeared in the gospels of previous days become clear to us: Jesus acts with authority and is moved by the Kingdom of God.

The person who approaches Jesus does so with confidence: “If you want, you can cleanse me.” He trusts in his authority and puts before him what is there. Jesus, “feeling sorry,” does what is in his power: he touches him. He heals the one who was impure by being touched. He who was excluded finds it healing to be accepted. Jesus brings health, because he touches, accepts, welcomes. And he “was cleansed.”

Jesus is moved by the Kingdom. He doesn’t seek fame or glory. That’s why he asks for silence. Great things – the origin of life, the growth of a being, the peace of the heart… – happen in silence.

But he who has been loved and healed, from his weakness, cannot remain silent. Therefore, without ill will, the character in the gospel disobeys Jesus by proclaiming to the four winds the mercy that God has had for him. And is not for less. Good spreads. Gratitude is expansive. The graceful heart cannot remain silent…

Sometimes I think that if we are not better it is because we lack awareness of all the good things we have received. About what others and God through life have done for us. Knowing that no life is perfect. “From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”.

I invite you to think today about everything you have received. And may, from there, like the person of the Gospel, gratitude arise. It led him to proclaim it to others. What can it lead you to?

Have a good day.
