Tamil superstar Suriya casts his vote for Oscar award. The actor also shared the screen shot of voting on Twitter. Suriya got a chance to vote in 2022 when he was selected as a member of the Oscar committee. Oscar Organizer has been listed on the membership list. With this, Suriya became the first South Indian actor to become a member of the Oscar committee.
397 artists were invited to be members of the committee. Indian members of the committee include Bollywood actress Kajol, Oscar-nominated documentary filmmakers Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh, writers and filmmakers Reema Kagdi and Aditya Sood.
The films Soorarai Potr and Jai Bheem, starring Suriya as the central character, gained international attention. Surarai Potter has been nominated for Oscars 2021 and ‘Jai Bheem’ was screened on Oscar’s official YouTube channel.
AR Rahman, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Vidya Balan, Ali Afzal, producers Aditya Chopra, Guneet Monka, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor are Indians who are earlier members of the Academy.
The Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 12. The song ‘Natu Natu’ from the RRR film directed by SS Rajamouli has made it to the Oscar nomination list.
