2023-11-19 18:21:00

On Monday, November 20, 2023, ULB and VUB students will celebrate Saint V.

Why does Saint-V fall on November 20?

This is the date on which the ULB was founded. The ULB was in fact born on November 20, 1834.. The VUB was created in 1969, after the linguistic split of the university. It was the jurist Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen, master of the lodge, who created the ULB in 1834. He wanted a “free” university. Since 1888, every November 20, the ULB has paid tribute to its founder and the free examination to which he valued.

Since 2019, the Verhaegen has been recognized as intangible cultural heritage of the Brussels-Capital Region. But there are other unusual facts to know about Saint-V.
