The Horner affair, as it has been called for several weeks now, is coming to an end. Red Bull confirmed via a press release that the investigation into its director, Christian Horner, had not highlighted the “inappropriate behavior” for which the investigation was opened.
Horner was under investigation external to Red Bull Racing for inappropriate behavior, the nature of which was unknown. The team had kept him in charge during the investigation, but the time to carry it out was starting to make the main players in the team impatient.
Max Verstappen had twice called for a rapid resolution, while Ford and its CEO were annoyed by the lack of transparency and efficiency surrounding the investigation. This completed, we therefore have confirmation that the Briton remains director of Red Bull Racing.
“The independent investigation into the allegations made against Mr. Horner has been completed and Red Bull can confirm that the grievance has been dismissed,” Red Bull GmbH said in a statement. “The complainant has a right of appeal. Red Bull is satisfied that the investigation was fair, thorough and impartial.”
“The investigation report is confidential and contains private information about the parties and third parties who participated in the investigation, therefore we will not make further comments out of respect for everyone involved. Red Bull will continue to strive for the highest standards in the workplace.”
We will now have to wait to see if the person who made the complaint will appeal, and if the investigation and its conclusions will satisfy Red Bull’s partners, starting with Ford, who wanted transparent and complete elements.
