Green tea, oranges, grapes and lemons. Actually a normal purchase. But what is being brought to the checkout in Gloucestershire, UK, is causing quite a stir.

The problem: tea and fruit are imported, packed in plastic and stuffed into a diesel car after purchase. And the buyer? None other than Gail Bradbrook, one of the co-founders of the climate movement Extinction Rebellion!

“She did everything that Extinction Rebellion advises us not to do,” says the man who saw her shopping. «Buying fruit that is flown halfway around the world in non-recyclable packaging. And then driving home on a diesel engine. What a tremendous hypocrite,” he says to the “Sun”.

The eyewitness documented the shopping of the 50-year-old, who is publicly fighting against climate change, with photos. They show the climate activist with heaps of plastic packaging at the local supermarket checkout.

According to British media, the fruit she bought comes from Chile, Vietnam, Spain, Cyprus and Italy. In total, their food has traveled more than 28,000 kilometers. After all: Bradbrook’s purchase is vegan.

But plastic and imports aren’t all that pisses off their critics. The last photo that the eyewitness took is the icing on the cake: It shows the activist boss getting into a diesel car.

“At least she wasn’t stopped on her way home by idiots glued to the road,” says an eyewitness.

Meanwhile, activists from the Bradbrooks organization are already starting a major protest against climate change in London. Starting today, Friday, Extinction Rebellion will be demonstrating with other climate organizations at the London Marathon. Up to 50,000 activists are expected.
