The Head of Government expressed his gratitude to France which, like many other partners, played a key role in the negotiations. In Brazzaville on January 25, 2022, Anatole Collinet Makosso, Prime Minister had a meeting with the French Ambassador to the Congo on 25 January. It was a question of talking about the signing of January 21 Washington to, in the United States, theaccord of thirty-six months under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) for an amount of approximately 455 million US dollars between the Republic of Congo and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Head of Government expressed his gratitude to France which, like many other partners, played a key role in the negotiations that led to the conclusion of a new agreement with the IMF. “We have helped, as much as possible, our Congolese partner to meet the requirements of the International Monetary Fund and we are delighted. Now that the agreement is concluded, France had promised budgetary support which will come. A mission will arrive in Brazzaville in a few weeks to finalize this budget support as agreed. So with other partners we will support Congo to effectively implement this agreement.”, promised the French diplomat stationed in Brazzaville. According to him, the outcome of this file is the result of joint work carried out for several months. “It is a process of shared effort that we celebrated this morning to rejoice. It must also be said that this is only the start of the reform process which is an absolutely imperative, compulsory step. Now that confidence is restored, the work can start on the right foundations and we have reassured the Prime Minister that we will remain at Congo’s side to help him implement everything that was planned in Washington.”, concluded François Barateau.
