[on.cc East Net News]As the global epidemic is gradually easing, Hong Kong and the Mainland have also cleared customs in an orderly manner, and citizens’ desire to travel abroad has greatly increased. Recently, many citizens have applied for Hong Kong SAR passports at the Immigration Department. However, as far as I know, Many people’s application progress was affected because their photos did not meet the requirements and they did not bring their old passports when they received the certificates. The Immigration Department today (14th) encouraged citizens to submit SAR passport applications through the Internet or the Immigration Department’s mobile application on social platforms, which is convenient and quick, and also reminded to pay attention to the photo requirements.

The Immigration Department stated that in order to reduce passport review and citizens’ waiting time, the department has allocated additional resources and manpower to cope with the sudden increase in workload. In addition to applying in person at the counter, citizens are encouraged to submit passport applications through the Internet or the Immigration Department’s mobile application. The prescription also pointed out that it has noticed that many citizens have affected the progress of the application because they failed to submit photos that meet the requirements, and reminded the public to pay attention to the photo requirements, including clear and recent color photos; the background must be pure white; glasses must not reflect light or block the eyes; Hair must not cover the eyes or eyebrows, and headgear and headphones are not allowed.

In order to reduce the waiting time, citizens can make an appointment through the Internet, the mobile application of the Immigration Department or the 24-hour telephone appointment service hotline 2598 0888 before collecting the permit. The waiting time without an appointment may be longer. Applicants are required to present their Hong Kong permanent identity card and the originals of the supporting documents submitted at the time of application for verification. If applying for a passport renewal, the applicant must present the original passport when collecting the new passport; if the applicant originally held the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Document of Identity for Visa Purposes, the applicant must also present the certificate.
