Caretaker Health Minister Firas Al-Abyad spoke about “the impact of climate change on health, through water, desertification, and pollution, which increase respiratory diseases, cancer, and others.”

He pointed out during an interview with LBCI, on the sidelines of the Cop28 activities, that “in Lebanon, we have faced several problems in recent years related to the climate, such as the spread of cholera due to water scarcity, in addition to a high rate of cancer and asthma, and this is related to pollution,” pointing out that “the Ministry has a role in Preparing for climate change, pointing out that the plan being worked on includes preparing hospitals and health centers to operate on solar energy.”

Al-Abyad believed that “shared responsibility is one of the basic principles of today’s conference, especially since Lebanon is a country that receives a large number of displaced people.”
