“Lebanon Debate”

Representative Tony Franjieh met Tuesday morning with the head of the Lebanese Pharmacists Syndicate, Joe Salloum, to discuss the pharmaceutical and health situation in the country, especially after the latter stated that thousands of pharmacies are at risk of closure if the Ministry of Health insists on adopting a tracking system for subsidized medicines at the beginning of the year. the new.

In this context, Salloum confirmed to “Lebanon Debate” that “the reality of the health and pharmaceutical sector in the country was presented, and the latest developments regarding the tracking system (Meditrack) on subsidized medicines, and the danger this system poses to the health system in Lebanon as well as to the provision of Medicine for patients, in addition to the confidentiality of information pertaining to patients, and the complete confidentiality of information and data pertaining to Lebanese society.”

Salloum discussed with Representative Franjieh the danger of transferring this information to a place that no one wants, such as the Israeli enemy and others, especially since the information related to the patient’s health, the patient’s medication, and the drug market is very dangerous information, and it is not acceptable for it to be in the hands of any specific party. .

Salloum stressed, “Withholding medicine from patients and threatening thousands of pharmacies with closure due to the tracking system’s reliance on subsidized medicines, in addition to imposing a unified prescription on patients, is a very dangerous matter, especially since the patient does not have the ability to do so.”

He stressed that “solutions must be sought elsewhere, by pursuing smuggling, counterfeiting, illegal pharmacies, and others.”

Salloum revealed, “Representative Franjieh promised to pour all his efforts into preserving the patient’s ability to obtain medicine and preserving pharmacies.”
