NNA – Head of the Union of Bcharre Municipalities, Mayor of Bekaa Kafra, Elie Makhlouf, stressed that “the attack that took place in Qurna Aswadah confirms that when the state is not firm in imposing its prestige and adjudicating disputes, it leaves the matter to the aggressors who think themselves stronger than the state as a result of political protections.”
He said in a statement: “We extend our condolences to the families of those who fell as martyrs, in a region that offered many martyrs in defense of Lebanon and their land, but the real condolence is in the extradition of criminals, and in determining the circumstances of what happened, through a transparent and rapid investigation carried out by the Lebanese army, which we trust.”
And he stressed that “the entire human judiciary is in mourning, and it stands together in the face of any aggression and sedition, while stressing, over and over again, that our refuge is the state, in the hope that it will be with the truth and the betrayed, not the treacherous.”
He hoped that “the spiritual references, led by Patriarch Mar Beshara Boutros Al-Rahi, would play a role in calming souls, without that meaning abandoning accountability for those who killed our youth and resolving the chronic real estate dispute.”
