The inaugural of the first “smart mosque” in Makkah is based on the utilization of technology in all its devices.

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sheikh, has unveiled the smart mosque project, the electronic portal of the ministry’s branch, and the “Trasul” program for electronic transactions, as part of its continuing efforts to keep up with technology in providing services. The smart mosque in Makkah Al-Mukarramah has been launched as a model that incorporates technology into all its devices such as lighting and air conditioning, amongst other facilities. It is the first experimental mosque in the Kingdom and will pave the way for more. The digital portal of the Ministry’s branch in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region aims to automate its services through electronically received requests, increasing efficiency and expediting completion. The project’s launch also connects the branch with its governorates and affiliated centers, allowing the ease of communication and decision-making. The project is expected to save more than 50% of consumption and allow for the easy monitoring of all components of the floors. Furthermore, it is equipped with a mobile application that connects wirelessly to the mosque network, allowing for monitoring and linking of the status of mosques.
