Instead of a weather forecast, a mysterious file icon appears. However, this problem only occurs in a very specific case: when it snows.
Yes, you read correctly. When snowflakes start falling, the Apple Weather widget on iPhone fails to display the appropriate animation. Social networks and forums have quickly filled with comments and complaints from users who encountered this winter anomaly.
Users can’t take it anymore
On a popular forum, one user said: “The iPhone Weather widget apparently doesn’t handle snow anymore (me neither, but that’s another story).” Another person wrote: “The snow image doesn’t even load on my weather widget. It’s too early for that.”
The criticism of Apple’s native Weather app doesn’t stop there. Some users question the accuracy of the app’s weather forecasts. One said: “I’m really amazed at how bad things have gone so quickly. I was a big fan of Dark Sky, known for its precipitation accuracy. Apple Weather in iOS 16 was wildly inaccurate with forecasts for my region in the United States.”
It’s important to note that Apple previously purchased the Dark Sky app, beloved for its weather accuracy. Even though the Weather app incorporates features from Dark Sky, many users still miss the accuracy of the old app.
