The Jura libraries have not regained their pre-Covid attendance

Far from its sometimes dusty image, the library today sees itself as the third place in a person’s life. Its mission: to offer a neutral and friendly space, outside the usual framework. “The idea is to come and stroll with the family. The parents discuss while browsing the newspaper, while the children read in a corner”, explains Géraldine Rérat-Oeuvray, president of the Jura Library Commission.
Some places in the canton, such as the Renfer space in Porrentruy, even offer the possibility of drinking a coffee, between two shelves filled with books. A desire therefore to open up and be as accessible as possible.
Number of fragile visits
Despite this modern appearance, libraries in the region must redouble their efforts…
