The Kia EV6 voted car of the year 2022 ahead of the Renault Mégane E-Tech!

Surprise: while the Renault Mégane E-Tech was in the lead at the 2022 Car of the Year ceremony, it was ultimately the Kia EV6 that won.

The 59 members of the European Car of the Year 2022 jury revealed their votes today. They had to choose between seven finalists: the Renault Mégane E-Tech, the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Skoda Enyaq iV, the Peugeot 308, the Cupra Born and the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

When the country-by-country votes were revealed, the Renault Mégane immediately stood out at the top of the votes. But at the end of the recount, the Kia EV6 made a spectacular good and finally wins the 2022 election by a short head ahead of the Frenchwoman. This is the very first time that a Kia has won this election. The judges probably wanted to salute the technical success of this 100% electric SUV, cousin of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and rival of the Volkswagen ID.4 and other Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The successor to the Toyota Yaris

Remember that it was the Toyota Yaris which won in 2021, the Japanese city car having succeeded the Peugeot 208. The “Car of The Year” election has existed since 1964, the year in which the Rover P6 2000 won.
