The Kremlin would abandon the leader of the Wagner group if it fails to take Bakhmut

Wagner’s fighters are gradually gaining ground on Bakhmut, but at enormous cost. After two months of combat, they may be short of fighters. His boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has accused the Russian military of failing to support Wagner’s operations when they need it most. Prigozhin, a longtime Kremlin darling, could find himself destitute if he fails to take Bakhmut. This is a report by Melissa Bell.
