An elephant has died in a forest in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He also left behind a child, whose upbringing and care became a challenge for the forest department. Various efforts are being made to keep the baby elephant alive.

According to a report by India Today, Indian IAS officer Supriya Sahu shared the heart-wrenching story of a sick elephant on her X account on April 12, which was in a weak state. A 2-year-old child was also with her.

On seeing the ex-post, the Tamil Nadu forest department officials swung into action to save him, but by then it was too late and he died. After which her baby was joined with another herd of elephants.

Supriya Sahu, in her post on X, said that despite the tireless efforts of four experienced veterinary doctors working day and night, they failed to save the elephant.

After the death of the mother, forest department officials focus on ensuring the welfare of the baby elephant.
