The Last of Us Part 1 hasn’t stopped being talked about since its announcement. Released in 2013 on PlayStation 3, the first episode of the saga will be the subject of a final variation which will be released next September. For many fans, reliving the meeting between Joel and Ellie is enough to arouse curiosity, especially when we know that the title will take advantage of the capabilities of the PS5. If most are enthusiastic, some are already dreading replaying terrible sections for the nerves, starting with the basement of the hotel.

The wave of remakes

In recent years, remakes, to the chagrin of some people, have become a must for publishers and developers. In video games, nostalgia is in full swing and studios no longer hesitate to go there with their remasterings and proofreadings by taking advantage of modern tools and technological progress. We can love this approach as well as deplore it, but we must admit that some remakes have really marked the spirits. This was particularly the case with the incredible remake of Resident Evil on Gamecube or, more recently, narcotic Demon’s Souls Remake on PlayStation 5. We can also mention The Legend of Zelda : Link’s Awakening on Nintendo Switch or the essential Final Fantasy VII new generation.

The Pittsburgh Hotel Basement

Who says remake says to relive identical or slightly modified passages of the original. These sequences always have a particular impact, especially when it comes to moments of anthology that have marked the video game. The first zombie in Resident Evil, the confrontation against the first colossus in Shadow of the Colossus, the encounter with Yorda in Ico… there are plenty of examples. And The Last of Us Part 1 is no exception to this phenomenon. On Twitter, some fans are already beginning to fear some particularly nerve-wracking passages. And of all the most dreaded sections of The Last of Us, one of them seems to be unanimous: the basement of the hotel in Pittsburgh! Don’t worry, we won’t spoil any of the events, but fans are wondering if Naughty Dog will reshape this section or leave it as is. Moreover, while some are afraid of reliving certain sequences, others are eager to dive back into certain emotional passages.
