The Belarusian auto industry is facing serious difficulties in the Russian market. Its main competitor, KamAZ, is losing ground in front of Chinese brands that offer cheaper and more modern models. To survive in these conditions, MAZ needs to develop a new product that will be in demand among customers. And such a product can be a crossover.

Automotive Portal Independent Designer “naavtotrasse.ru” presented his vision of what the new MAZ-6303 Padaga 2024 crossover might look like. He took as a basis the Chinese JAC JS8 SUV, which has not yet appeared on the Russian market. This is a 7-seater crossover with a 1.5-liter 180-horsepower turbo engine and an automatic transmission.

Chinese JAC can become a partner of MAZ in creating a new car. This company already has experience of cooperation with Russian manufacturers, supplying them with car kits for assembling “Russian” cars. Also, JAC and MAZ previously worked together in the production of trucks.

The new MAZ “Padaga” will completely repeat the design and technical characteristics of the Chinese counterpart. It will not be particularly sophisticated and innovative, but it will have one significant advantage: a low price. It is expected that the new Belarusian crossover will cost about 2.5 million rubles. And this will affect the popularity of the car, since now it is simply not possible to find crossovers with a 7-seater saloon and at a price of 2.5 million rubles on the country’s market.

Will the new MAZ-6303 “Padaga” 2024 be able to attract the attention of Russian buyers and save the Belarusian auto industry from collapse? So far, it is rather difficult to answer this question, especially considering that now there have been no official statements about the appearance of this car. So far, we can only admire the renderings of what the new Belarusian crossover might look like.
