The Latest on Swiss Apprenticeships: 51,400 Contracts Already Signed for 2022

“The situation on the apprenticeship market is looking good,” the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) announced on Tuesday. At the end of May, some 51,400 apprenticeship contracts had already been signed throughout Switzerland. This represents “nearly 69% of the total number of contracts concluded in 2022”, continues the SERFI. This figure is similar to previous years.

SERFI reveals that “as usual, the allocation of apprenticeship places is more advanced in German-speaking Switzerland, given that the recruitment process begins later in French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino”.

It should be noted that, “on the scholarships for apprenticeship places managed by the cantons, more than 20,000 places were still vacant for the start of the 2023 school year”. In other words, “young people who would still be looking for an apprenticeship place for the start of the 2023 school year therefore have every chance”, concludes the SERFI.
