So many people are overweight, but more and more of them are obese. Here is how to summarize the results of the latest survey carried out at the initiative of the League Against Obesity and coordinated by researchers from Inserm and the Montpellier University Hospital, published last February in the Journal of Clinical Medicine. A representative panel of around 10,000 adults was surveyed by questionnaire in the fall of 2020, just before the second confinement.

Result ? Nearly half of them are overweight. This term corresponds to a body mass index (BMI, weight divided by height squared) of at least 25, or at least 81 kg for a man measuring 1m80, for example. This share has increased little in twenty years, if we refer to previous studies carried out with a similar methodology.
