The Legislative Assembly approved this day, during Ordinary Plenary No. 150, the new Law on Specialties of Medical Professions, an initiative proposed by the Ministry of Health.
The new law aims to raise quality standards in healthcare by ensuring proper certification and constant updating of knowledge by healthcare professionals.
In addition, it will benefit more than 110,000 workers in the medical sector, who will be trained to provide better service to the population. Likewise, the measure is designed to promote both legal and health security.
One of the main provisions of this law is the creation of the National Council of Medical Specialties (CONADEM), an organization that will be responsible for granting specialization credentials and establishing regulations necessary for its effective implementation.
The Law of Specialties of Medical Professions and CONADEM will verify that all health professionals, in any sector in which they work, are duly accredited to practice.
