Haval cars have become the most popular foreign cars on the Russian market. In October, the Chinese brand sold 12,823 cars in Russia, tripling the figure compared to the same month last year. Thus, it became a leader among foreign automakers, displacing its compatriot Chery from its home. Chery managed to sell 10,859 cars over the same period. Its sales growth is also impressive, but less than that of Haval – 2.8 times by October 2022.
From January to October, almost 82 thousand Haval cars were sold in Russia, reports Avtostat, citing data from PPK JSC, which takes into account the number of registrations. The bestseller, also the cheapest model of the Chinese brand, is the Jolion crossover, which was chosen by 6,270 people. This is 2.1 times more than for the same period in 2022.
In second place is the mid-size crossover Haval Dargo. It was purchased by 1,990 people – 8.8 times more than a year ago. The third is completed by the Haval M6 with 1,809 units sold, which entered our market only in the summer of 2023.
In general, since the beginning of the year, more than 800 thousand new passenger cars have been sold in Russia – 60.1 percent more than in January-October 2022. Lada remains the market leader. In October, it broke another record: sales rose 113.7 percent to 40,912 vehicles, the highest in the last decade.
As for Chery, which for a long time was the leader among foreign cars, its sales falling for the second month in a row. Experts explain this by a decrease in the availability of loans due to the increased rate of the Central Bank: it is now more difficult for Russians to decide on a purchase.
