In Paris – President Emmanuel Macron had invited people to a Lebanon conference – Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati repeated the intention to let the Lebanese army advance into southern Lebanon with an additional 8,000 men. However, a ceasefire and the cessation of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah is a prerequisite. Diplomacy is trying to achieve this, but for the time being the Israeli offensive continues, as does the shelling of targets in Israel by Hezbollah rockets.
