The Lebanese Foreign Ministry condemns the assassination of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh: The repeated Israeli crimes are a violation of international humanitarian law and a violation of media and press freedom

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants strongly condemned “the murder committed by the Israeli occupation forces once morest the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, a correspondent for Al-Jazeera channel, in the occupied Jenin area while she was doing her work, as well as the assault and injury of journalist Ali Al-Masudi, a producer on the same channel.”

The ministry affirmed, “Lebanon’s adherence to the principles of international law,” considering that “these repeated Israeli crimes are a violation of international humanitarian law and freedom of the media and the press, the right to express opinion, and the right to access information. It also calls for the necessary investigations to hold the occupation forces accountable and to take all necessary measures prevent the continuation of such crimes.
