After a record season, the L’Equipe channel hopes to ride on its growing popularity to finally break even. “We are close to it and hope to reach it within a year or two,” said Laurent Prud’homme, the general manager of the L’Equipe group. A goal that would have seemed almost fanciful in 2019, when the chain had an annual deficit of more than 10 million euros.

But channel 21 has made a place for itself in the habits of sports fans. Over the 2022-2023 season, its audience share for people aged four and over rose by 11% (to 1.7%), and even by 14% for its commercial target, men aged 25 to 49 (to 3.1%). archyde news revenue from television now accounts for a third of L’Equipe group revenue.
