Chief Executive’s Office $29.5K Contract Senior Chef
The Chief Executive’s Office has recently issued a recruitment advertisement for “Contract Senior Chef”. Non-civil servant positions must be Hong Kong permanent residents with a monthly salary of $29.5K. They must prepare ingredients and cook food for the Chief Executive, his family, and visiting VIPs, especially Applicants are required to “have at least nine years of experience as a Chinese chef in a large family or a large catering establishment or hotel”, which means that the experience in cooking Chinese food is a necessary condition. Entry conditions:
(a) At least nine years of experience as a Chinese chef in a large family/large catering establishment/hotel, proficient in cooking;
(b) be fluent in Cantonese and simple English, and be able to read and write simple Chinese and English; knowledge of basic computer word processing is preferred; and
(c) Those with knowledge/cooking experience in other local cuisines are preferred; those with culinary related qualifications will be preferred.
Responsibilities:
(a) prepare ingredients and cook food for the Chief Executive and his family, as well as visiting dignitaries;
(b) Catering services for official and social banquets held at Government House, Fanling Villa and other places;
(c) designing menus;
(d) assist in the procurement of ingredients;
(e) arrange and manage daily kitchen operations, including food handling, cleaning and maintenance of cooking utensils, etc.; and
(f) to perform other relevant duties as assigned.
(Note: admitted applicants must
(a) working overtime and irregular hours, including working on evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays;
(b) accommodation in dormitories;
(c) wear uniform; and
(d) Assigned to Government House in Hong Kong, Fanling Villas and other places to work. )
Terms of employment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.
Welfare:
If the job performance and behavior of the employed person have been good during the contract period, he will be paid a contract completion gratuity after the contract ends. The remuneration, together with the government’s contributions to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period. The recruit will be entitled to rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity/paternity leave and sickness allowance as applicable in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance and the contract.
