A new measure to help relieve doctors. Two decrees published Wednesday in Official newspaper extend the skills of pharmacists, nurses and laboratory technicians. These three professions will now be able to prescribe and administer all the injections of the vaccination schedule for individuals over 11 years of age. Midwives are also beneficiaries of these new measures: for this profession, it is a new prerogative.

To benefit from this extension of their area of expertise, pharmacists will have to undergo training, with a minimum of 10.30 hours of compulsory theoretical module, as recalled by the Union of community pharmacists (USPO).
“This development enhances our role in an ambitious prevention strategy and positions us as a major player in our country’s vaccination policy,” welcomes the USPO. For the new Minister of Health Aurélien Rousseau, this measure is “an essential step to facilitate access to vaccination and improve prevention”. Other measures aimed at reducing the workload of doctors by delegating tasks to other health professions are being studied in the coming months.
