Nacha Guevara’s strong definition of Charly García: “He is a living dead person”
Nacha Guevara was on PH, Podemos Habla (Telefe) this Saturday and dedicated a few minutes to her friend, Charly García. In the middle of a talk about the musician in which they remembered anecdotes, the artist, Bebe Contepomi and Andy Kuznetzoff marked the differences between the singer that everyone knew and the one now, the one who is distant, living in a very different way due to his health condition.
“Did you record with Charly?” Andy asked Nacha. “I have sung some tangos with him, I adore him and he is a genius as a musician. He is an extraordinary musician, very trained, with a very free head. He is a very free being. That’s why I miss that Charly,” the guest responded.
“I know he was destructive, but it was him and now I see him as an automaton, like a robot… Where is Charly when I look into his eyes?” she wondered, saying that the musician calls her by her real name, Clotilde.
“When I saw him, after everything that had happened, he took a while to recognize me, and when he was finally able to focus on me from somewhere, he said ‘Clotilde!’” Nacha said. “But I don’t want to see that Charly. I don’t know if it’s good to push someone to live that way,” he said.
“Sometimes I think you have to let certain people, especially one like him, let him fulfill his destiny, let him be him,” Nacha wished, and in response to an intervention from Bebe, who agreed with her, she stated: “Now it’s not he. I don’t want to see him because he’s not happy! “They took one drug away from him and gave him another,” stated the former Bailando jury.
“Let’s tell the truth: Charly is drugged. At least when he took what he took, he had his adorable moments, he had his crazy moments, he continued composing, he continued singing. So I honestly don’t know what he earned. Now he is dead in life, he is not him, and I do not want to go into disastrous details that you should know,” he told the journalist.
It is known that for some years now, García has rarely left his apartment and that he spends a lot of time in his room doing at least two of his favorite activities: making music and watching movies.
“I understand what Nacha is saying, but Charly being as he is and controlled as he is, today he is a guy that you go to see and he asks you about your children… he is another Charly, he is not crazy about composing although he is about to release an album. I am not the one to say if he is happy or not,” Contepomi concluded.
At the end of June, on the program The cruel truth of the same signal, Esteban Trebucq had released an alarming version about García’s state of health. “There is a lot of concern among the musicians who love Charly so much (…). Those who have seen him in recent days say that he hardly talks or walks. “His surroundings, who are very concerned about all this, try to ensure that very few people come closer,” he began by saying.

However, people close to the singer assured Teleshow that these versions were not true. “Nothing happened, none of what they said is true,” they said. And they assured that he did not suffer any new ailments in his health and that he is “as always”, while admitting that his mobility “is reduced” and that he uses a wheelchair, as seen in the last public appearances of the idol. One of those was on October 22, 2022, when the musician celebrated his last birthday in a bar in Palermo.
