the main indicators continue to decline

The epidemic wave of Covid-19 continued its decline on Monday in France, in terms of contamination and hospitalizations, confirming a trend that has been underway for several weeks.

In the past 24 hours, 17,195 new cases have been recorded, according to the French public health agency. With this figure, the seven-day average, which gives an idea of the real evolution of the epidemic, declines to 81,246 cases once morest 82,571 the day before.

The pressure is also reduced in the hospital. A total of 28,383 patients are hospitalized with Covid, including 2,905 in critical care, these two figures falling once more following a very slight rebound the day before.

These figures testify to the strong ebb of the wave observed since last autumn, first carried by the Delta variant then by its successor Omicron, which is much more contagious.

The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, spoke over the weekend of a “collapse of the Omicron wave”, stressing that it was halved every week.
