The man who was arrested last Wednesday as part of the investigation into the Brussels attack ultimately did not appear this Monday afternoon before the council chamber. According to the federal prosecutor’s office, the person concerned could be linked to the weapon used during the terrorist attack, which his lawyer disputes.
The suspect, Lamjed K., born in 1979, was arrested last Wednesday during a search in Tervuren and placed under arrest warrant the next day for murder and attempted murder in a terrorist context and participation in activists of a terrorist group. The individual allegedly exchanged photos of an AR-15, the weapon used in the attack, with Abdesalem Lassoued, the perpetrator of the attack and also transmitted coded contacts.
“My client has not appeared. He is being prosecuted for serious crimes, for participation in a terrorist organization. At the current stage of the proceedings, we have requested a postponement in order to be able to seriously defend my client. This case has been postponed and will return on November 8. My client remains in detention”indicated lawyer Guylain Mafuta Laman. “He did not wish to appear because in the preparation of his defense, there was no point in him coming, because release was going to be requested.
