The man who attacked Dave Chappelle on stage has been charged with four misdemeanors

Dave Chappelle’s alleged attacker has been charged with four misdemeanors in connection with the incident earlier this week.

Isaiah Lee ran onto the stage and tackled the comedian to the ground during his performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Tuesday (03 May 22).

Police officials said he was carrying a toy pistol that could eject a real knife blade.

According to The Hollywood Reporterthe Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office filed misdemeanor charges against the suspect on Thursday.

The charges are: assault and battery, possession of a weapon with intent to commit assault, unauthorized access to stage space during a performance, and commission of an act that delays an event or interferes with an artist.

City Attorney Mike Feuer announced the charges in a video on Twitterexplaining that “this alleged attack must have consequences”.

A spokesperson, however, said the felony charges will not be pursued.

After the incident, the comedian’s spokesperson said Dave Chappelle “refuses to let last night’s incident overshadow the magic of this historic moment,” referring to his big show: “As unfortunate and destabilizing whatever the incident was, Chappelle continued his show”.
