Submitted Egyptian Medicines Authority A package of advice on prescription drugs that are prohibited during pregnancy The Medicine Authority continued: “Sometimes women are forced to take some medicines during pregnancy to ensure that these medicines are safe for the health of the mother and fetus, because some prescription medicines are prohibited during pregnancy,” including:​

1- Acne medications such as isotretinoin

2-Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, which are a type of pressure medications.​

3- Epilepsy drugs, such as valproic acid

4- Some types of antibiotics such as tetracycline

5- Methatrexate, which is a versatile drug such as its use in the treatment of arthritis

6- Warfarin, a drug used to prevent blood clots

7 – Lithium, a drug used in the treatment of bipolar disorder

8- Paroxetine, a medication for depression

The Egyptian Medicines Authority stressed the need to consult a pharmacist and health care provider before taking any medication during pregnancy
