Rockfalls and landslides occurred in many sections of Miaoli County, and the Miao 126 Line 25 to 30 kilometers away, which had just been cleared for less than 3 days, was closed again. During the emergency repairs, there was also a boulder collapse on the side slope of the east-bound lane out of the sulphur pit of Taiwan Line 72, and the traffic was interrupted. The Meiyu front crossed the border, and the 27.4 kilometers of Line 72 in Gongguan Township, Miaoli County left the eastbound line of Huangkeng (towards Dahu). At 3 o’clock in the afternoon, there was a rockfall from the side slope and the mountain wall. The huge rockfall occupied the lane. The blockade was pulled up at the intersection of the 2km Kezushi Bridge and road closure control was implemented.
Zhang Zhong, deputy director of the Miaoli Branch of the Miaoli County Police Department, pointed out that Taiwan 72 Line is the main road between Houlong and Dahu. The machinery and equipment will be cleared, and the opening time will be announced later. During the road closure, drivers are requested to change to Miao 119 Line A and connect to Provincial Highway 6 Line to drive instead.

The county government’s Public Works Office stated that the hillside area of Miaoli County accounts for 87% of the county’s area, most of which are hills and platforms. Since April this year, the spring and plum rains have hit and the front has been stagnant, bringing abundant rainfall, causing the county to suffer from heavy rainfall. Cases of road slope collapse, road tree collapse, and stagnant water blocking traffic emerge in an endless stream. At present, the entire department is mobilizing and requiring emergency repair manufacturers in various districts to send additional equipment and manpower to fully devote themselves to emergency rush work.
