The melkization operation in numbers

Here are recent figures relating to the progress of the pilot operation of ” melkisation“, carried out within the framework of the activity “ Rural land“, supported by the Agency MCA-Morocco and which aims to melkiser » 66,000 Ha of collective land located in the irrigation perimeters of Gharb and Haouz for the benefit of rights holders:

• Surveys of all ethnic communities involved in the “melkization” operation have been completed;

• The final subdivision plans have been drawn up for 42,955 Ha of the total area of ​​the project, ie 65%;

• The establishment of the terminals of the lots of the beneficiaries was made on 38,438 Ha of the total surface of the project, that is to say 58%;

• 356 information and awareness sessions on acts of inheritance were held, reaching 4,666 men and 1,355 women;

• 2,678 deeds of inheritance were established for the benefit of 11,194 women and 9,699 men.

Beneficiaries of accompanying measures:

– Opening of 415 functional literacy classes for the benefit of 12,450 beneficiaries (with the National Agency for the Fight Against Illiteracy – ANALCA).

– 15 agricultural entrepreneurship projects for women and young people have been selected to benefit from financial support and will be supported in their implementation (with the National Agricultural Council Office – ONCA).

– Strengthening of the capacities of the farmers involved in the melkisation operation at the level of the project sites for the benefit of 104,800 beneficiaries (with ONCA).

– Training sessions in financial education for the benefit of 4,500 beneficiaries (with the Crédit Agricole Group of Morocco – GCAM).

Context and objective of the “Rural Land” project of Compact II:

• With a budget of 33 million dollars, the “Rural Land” project is implemented within the framework of the “Compact II” cooperation program, concluded between the Government of Morocco and the Government of the United States of America , represented by Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), effective June 30, 2017 and ending March 2023.

• This comes in application of the High Royal Guidelines, calling for making collective land a lever for economic and social development in rural areas, in general, and for the activation of melkization free of charge for those located within irrigation perimeters, in particular.

• The “Rural land” activity has as its ultimate objective the construction of a model for the development of collective land in irrigation schemes to fight poverty in rural areas.

• This pilot “melkization” operation is carried out in close collaboration with the various departments concerned, namely the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, the National Agency for Land Conservation, Cadastre and Cartography (ANCFCC), and the Regional Offices for Agricultural Development (ORMVA) of Gharb and Haouz, in accordance with the execution agreement signed on July 19, 2018 and amended on August 23, 2019.
