The Miata Speedster will soon be marketed, a version boosted to 355 horsepower will even be available!

Mazda had presented the Miata Speedster only as a concept car. However, an American trainer decided to give life to this project.

La Miata Speedster had already been presented in 2015, during the Las Vegas SEMA Show. Its official name: Mazda MX-5 Miata. The Japanese manufacturer only intended, at that time, to present a concept car. He also re-presented it a second time in 2020. A priori, nothing suggested that the model would one day be produced and marketed. That wasn’t even in Mazda’s plans.

However, announcements that a Miata Speedster would be in production are currently circulating more and more. Mazda’s plans have not changed. In reality, it is a tuning company, Xenex, who took up the torch. The model is designed in collaboration with a Russian designer, Eunuch Tlibekov.

A Miata Speedster soon to be marketed

The Miata Speedster being produced is not quite the one presented by Mazda in 2015 and 2020. Rather, it isa version imagined by designer Kasim Tlibekov. In 2018, he published his vision of what the Mazda MX-5 Speedster should be for the first time. Four years later, the American preparer Xenex has decided to give life to this project.

Named MX Speedster by Xenex, the model features bespoke bodywork. Following the design originally imagined by Mazda, the vehicle has no roof. Only a windshield will serve as protection for the driver. The Xenex Miata is also, according to the tuner, particularly light. It will weigh only 900 kilos!

A 200 horsepower version in the works

The performance of the MX Speedster has not been specified by Xenex. However, two upgraded versions are also in the boxes of the preparer. A first should bring the vehicle to 200 horsepower, while the second will be pushed by more than 350 horsepower. This latest model will thus be the top-of-the-range version, which will be equipped with a V8 Chevrolet RS-type engine.

In total, these are three models of Miata Speedster that Xenex is building. Something to delight some collectors, althoughno price has yet been announced. On the other hand, for the moment, Mazda Stay away from this project. Thus, there are no plans for a wider production of this model, at least for the time being.
