The Moroccan Ministry of Health said Monday that all the necessary resources had been mobilized to maintain the continuity of care for people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Morocco, in the context of the health crisis linked to COVID-19.

Like the international community, Morocco will celebrate World AIDS Day on December 1. This year, the celebrations at the national level will focus on the theme “Continuity of the fight against AIDS: a shared responsibility”, which highlights the need to continue to guarantee access to HIV prevention and care services, especially to HIV. antiretroviral treatment (ARV), in the current context marked by the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Moroccan ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, the efforts of all stakeholders made it possible to reach, during the year 2019, 78% of PLHIV in Morocco who know their serological status; among these PLHIV, 90% received ARV treatment and 92% negated their viral load.

All the interventions put Morocco on the right track to eliminate the AIDS epidemic as a public health problem by 2030, in accordance with the sustainable development goals adopted by the UN, the ministry said. .
