The miraculous Keyontae Johnson will continue his career at Kansas State

This is great news for Keyontae Johnsonwho will finally be able to resume the thread of his university career, after a forced break of 18 months.

The 23-year-old winger, who still has two seasons of NCAA eligibility, joins a Kansas State program that wants to rebuild around a new project, launched last March with the recruitment of its new coach Jerome Tang, with an experience of nearly 20 years as an assistant in the staff of Scott Drew at Baylor (2003 to 2022).

« I chose Kansas State because the staff will do everything to make their players better, both on and off the field. » he soberly declared.

As a reminder, Keyontae Johnson had suffered a heart attack in the middle of a match, on December 12, 2020 during a derby between Florida and Florida State. Immediately taken to the hospital, he was placed in an artificial coma and remained under observation for ten days.

Since then, he has not played again, but he has made the most of his free time since he graduated from the University of Florida last May. A few weeks earlier, as the Gators entered a new cycle under new coach Todd Golden, the winger put his name on the NCAA transfer portal to continue his career.

During his last full season, as a sophomore in 2019/20, he had compiled very good averages of 14 points (54.4% on shots) and 7.1 rebounds in 31 games, displaying himself then, at the time, as a potential first-round draft pick.
