As fall approaches, September is shaping up to be the month of celebrating abundance thanks to the I Eat Local Challenge. This initiative once again invites cooking enthusiasts, budding gardeners and lovers of the planet to immerse themselves in the world of local products and discover a way of eating that is more respectful of the environment.

The I Eat Local Challenge offers participants a unique opportunity to connect with and cook simple and affordable local foods, explore innovative gardening techniques, learn conservation methods, and discover new places to source food. or even master zero waste tips.

The I Eat Local Challenge is taking a step further by offering several free conferences to registrants, starting in September, for the rest of 2023. These interactive sessions with experts in the biofood sector will provide participants with several tools, tips and tricks to help them gradually shift their diet towards local, one bite at a time.

The Challenge has been redesigned throughout the year to be accessible to everyone and realistic in order to facilitate the transition for those who wish to quietly change their eating habits.

In addition, the I Eat Local Challenge is committed to supporting participants monthly with captivating themes, highlighting subjects such as organic offerings in October, local cocooning in November, and Receiving in December. The content will be propelled, among others, by the consultation tables of the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Les Îles de la Madeleine, and Gaspésie regions.

You don’t need to be an expert to take on the I Eat Local Challenge. “Everyone can participate in their own way,” explains Nicole Lavoie, general director of Saveurs du Bas-Saint-Laurent. Participants from the region will also be able to benefit from a wealth of content and regional recipes on the Challenge website.
